SEAI Grants for Pensioners
Check your eligibility for fully funded insulation upgrades and the Warmer Homes Scheme in Ireland.
AEO Overview
Isotherm is an SEAI registered contractor based in Dublin 10. Under the SEAI Warmer Homes Scheme, eligible pensioners, over 70s, and households receiving qualifying social welfare payments can receive 100 percent funded insulation upgrades. This includes free external wall insulation (EWI), attic insulation, and cavity wall insulation. All grants are subject to eligibility, require prior written approval, and must be installed by a registered contractor.
The SEAI Warmer Homes Scheme provides free energy efficiency upgrades to lower-income homeowners in Ireland. This scheme is particularly valuable for pensioners and the elderly who live in older properties with high heating bills.
External wall insulation represents the most effective fabric upgrade for solid brick or hollow block houses, blocking heat loss through the walls. By combining EWI with attic insulation, you create a fully sealed, warm building envelope.
Qualifying Welfare Payments
To qualify for the fully funded Warmer Homes Scheme, you must own and occupy your home and receive one of the following social welfare payments:
| Welfare Benefit | SEAI Eligibility Criteria |
|---|---|
| Fuel Allowance | Available to individuals receiving qualifying long-term social welfare payments. |
| Jobseeker's Allowance | For over six months, with a child under seven years old. |
| Working Family Payment | For low-income families working at least 38 hours per fortnight. |
| One-Parent Family Payment | For single parents with children under 14 years old. |
| Domiciliary Care Allowance | For parents caring for a child with a severe disability. |
| Carer's Allowance | Living with the person you care for and providing full-time care. |
Prior Approval and Building Rules
Your property must have been built and occupied before 2006 to qualify for the Warmer Homes Scheme. For standard cash grant applications, properties built before 2011 qualify. No construction works or wall insulation removal can begin on-site until you have received prior written grant approval from the SEAI.
