Yes, you can apply directly on the SEAI website. However, most homeowners find it easier to let their chosen SEAI-registered contractor handle the application. They do it every day and can ensure the process is smooth.

How is the grant paid?

The grant is paid directly into the homeowner's bank account after the work is completed and your contractor submits the required paperwork. You are then responsible for paying the contractor's full invoice.

Do I need a BER assessment?

A BER (Building Energy Rating) assessment is required after the works are complete to verify the improvements. The cost of this post-works BER assessment is also covered by a separate €50 SEAI grant.

Are there grants for other insulation types?

Yes, SEAI also offers grants for attic insulation, cavity wall insulation, and internal insulation (dry-lining). You can combine these grants for a full home upgrade.

Am I Eligible for the Grant? The 3 Key Rules

Eligibility is straightforward for most homeowners. You must meet three main criteria:

1. Home Built On or Before 31 Dec 2010

The grant is for improving existing housing stock. Your home must have been built and occupied on or before 31 December 2010 to qualify for insulation grants.

2. Use an SEAI Registered Contractor (Isotherm)

Work must be completed by an SEAI Registered Contractor. Isotherm handles your pre-approval paperwork and technical compliance sign-off.

3. Grant Deducted Directly From Invoice

As a registered contractor, Isotherm deducts the approved grant value directly from your invoice so you only pay the net balance.
